What is the Barley Coherent Club Mission?

To enjoy and support the craft of homebrewing through knowledge transfer, social engagement, and responsible consumption.

Who can become a member?

Membership is open to all individuals who are at least 21 years of age, who have paid annual dues, and have an interest in the craft of homebrewing.

Barley Coherent does not restrict or limit membership whatsoever based on race, religion, color, creed, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, or employment status.

Club Officers retain the right to remove any club members for misconduct without refund of dues.

What are the benefits of membership?

Membership includes: access to all Barley Coherent monthly meetings and events, 5% discount at Brew It Yourself (the official sponsor of Barley Coherent), coverage under club Liquor Liability insurance, voting in Officer Elections, and voting in other club matters brought to vote.

How do I become a member?

To become a member you must complete a Membership Application and submit full dues. Membership Applications can be found attached to this e-mail, within the Barley Coherent Facebook group, and located at Brew It Yourself.

How much are dues?

Dues are $35 for one year membership, $60 for two-year membership.

When is the membership period?

Membership begins the day dues and the Membership Application is submitted and expires 12 or 24 months respectively thereafter.

Where can I submit a membership application and pay dues?

Application and dues can be provided in-person at monthly club meetings or at Brew-It-Yourself. Dues can be paid as cash, PayPal, or check made out to Barley Coherent.

When and where are club meetings held?

Club meetings are held from 6:00 to 9:00pm at Brew It Yourself, monthly on the 2nd to last Saturday of the month. Any changes to date, time, or location will be communicated in advance of the meeting.

What do we do at club meetings?

Each club meeting includes a tasting for the Beer Style of the Month, a demo or lecture about a homebrewing topic, and open tastings.

Can I attend a club meeting before deciding to become a member?

Of course! Barley Coherent welcomes anyone interested in trying out the club to attend a meeting but we do ask that non-members (Guests) commit to membership upon attendance of three meetings.

Can I bring a guest to club meetings?

If so, do they have to pay dues to attend? Guests are absolutely welcome to attend club meetings assuming adherence to the request to commit to membership upon attendance of three meetings.
